Warranty POLICY
We stand behind the quality and reliability of SAFETYCAR products.
This Warranty Policy sets out the general manufacturer's warranty terms applicable to SAFETYCAR products.
Warranty duration, coverage, remedies, registration requirements and product-specific exclusions may differ between products. These are stated in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions published on the official SAFETYCAR website.
This Warranty Policy must therefore be read together with:
- the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions;
- the applicable Product Conditions of Use;
- current product specifications and instructions; and
- any applicable SAFETYCAR safety or technical instructions.
Where product-specific Warranty Conditions differ from this general Warranty Policy on a matter relating specifically to that product, the product-specific Warranty Conditions apply.
Unless SAFETYCAR expressly states otherwise, the product-specific warranty terms applicable to an original consumer purchase are those published on the official SAFETYCAR website on the date of that purchase.
WARRANTY COVERAGE
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, the SAFETYCAR manufacturer's warranty applies only to a verified manufacturing defect attributable to SAFETYCAR arising during the applicable warranty period.
Warranty coverage applies only to products:
- purchased directly from SAFETYCAR or from an authorised reseller;
- used, stored and maintained in accordance with the applicable product specifications, instructions and Product Conditions of Use;
- installed by trained or approved personnel where professional or approved installation is required;
- not modified, altered or repaired without authorisation; and
- owned by the original purchaser.
The warranty remedy available for an approved claim is determined by the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
A manufacturing defect must be reasonably verifiable. The presence of a SAFETYCAR product during an incident, or the occurrence of an event the product is intended to mitigate, does not by itself establish a manufacturing defect.
PRODUCT-SPECIFIC WARRANTY TERMS
Each SAFETYCAR product is covered only by the warranty duration, eligibility requirements, replacement or discount terms, exclusions and other warranty benefits published for that product.
Depending on the product and the stage of its warranty period, the applicable remedy may include:
- replacement;
- repair;
- a discounted replacement;
- credit; or
- another remedy expressly stated in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
The warranty available for one SAFETYCAR product should not be assumed to apply to another SAFETYCAR product.
Authorised resellers are not authorised to extend, enlarge, alter or otherwise vary SAFETYCAR warranty terms unless SAFETYCAR has expressly approved the variation in writing.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, the SAFETYCAR manufacturer's warranty does not cover:
- Parts or components specifically excluded under the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions
- Normal use, consumption, deterioration or wear and tear
- Incorrect, improper or unauthorised installation
- Installation by untrained or unapproved personnel where trained or approved installation is required
- Products purchased from unauthorised resellers
- Failure to follow SAFETYCAR instructions, specifications, installation requirements, safety instructions or technical directions
- Improper use, storage or maintenance
- Use or storage outside specified operating temperatures or environmental conditions
- Puncture, impact, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence or tampering
- Modification, alteration or unauthorised repair
- Damage caused by vehicle, equipment, maintenance or repair work, whether performed by the purchaser or a third party
- Fire, flood, natural disaster or other external events
- Cosmetic deterioration that does not affect product function
- Continued use beyond the product's specified rated service life
- Damage, malfunction, deterioration or failure arising from a cause other than manufacture of the product
- Transfer of the product to another owner, vehicle, property or application, unless expressly permitted under the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions
Additional exclusions may apply to individual products and are stated in their product-specific Warranty Conditions.
PRODUCT-ONLY WARRANTY REMEDY
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, any warranty replacement, repair, discount, credit or other warranty remedy applies to the eligible SAFETYCAR product only.
Approval of a warranty claim does not create an entitlement to reimbursement for associated services, expenses, vehicle costs or other losses.
A warranty claim does not automatically entitle the claimant to a full replacement, refund or other remedy unless expressly provided by the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions or required by applicable law.
COSTS NOT COVERED
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions or required by applicable law, SAFETYCAR warranty support does not cover:
- shipping or delivery;
- freight;
- customs duties;
- GST, VAT, sales tax or other taxes;
- import charges;
- diagnosis;
- handling charges;
- removal or dismantling;
- installation or reinstallation;
- labour;
- towing or vehicle recovery;
- vehicle or equipment repair;
- substitute transport;
- loss of use;
- lost income; or
- any other consequential or ancillary cost.
Where a warranty remedy provides a replacement product at no charge or at a discounted price, this applies to the replacement product itself only, unless expressly stated otherwise.
WARRANTY REGISTRATION
Some SAFETYCAR products provide an online warranty registration facility.
Warranty registration allows SAFETYCAR to record information relating to the purchaser, product and installation and may simplify a future warranty claim.
Warranty registration does not replace the requirement to retain valid proof of purchase.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, warranty registration is not a condition of warranty coverage.
Where registration is expressly required for a particular product, the registration requirements and applicable registration period will be stated in that product's Warranty Conditions.
PROOF OF PURCHASE
Valid proof of purchase is required for every warranty claim.
Unless otherwise specified in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, this means the original consumer invoice or receipt issued by SAFETYCAR or an authorised reseller.
The applicable invoice date may determine:
- commencement of the warranty period;
- the applicable warranty year;
- the warranty remedy available;
- the rated service life of the product; and
- the warranty expiry date,
as specified in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
Where a warranty claim is made or administered through an authorised reseller, SAFETYCAR may also require the applicable reseller invoice or other supporting reseller documentation.
Claims for which the required proof of purchase cannot be provided or reasonably verified may not be accepted.
WARRANTY CLAIMS
If you believe that a SAFETYCAR product has developed a manufacturing defect, please contact SAFETYCAR or the authorised reseller through which your warranty claim is being administered.
Do not dismantle, modify, repair, dispose of or otherwise interfere with the affected product before receiving instructions where doing so may prevent the claimed defect from being properly assessed.
SAFETYCAR may require information or evidence including:
- the original consumer invoice or receipt;
- reseller documentation, where applicable;
- warranty registration information, where available;
- photographs or videos of the product;
- photographs or information relating to its installation;
- details and circumstances of the claimed defect;
- installation and service information;
- vehicle or equipment information; and/or
- return of the affected product for inspection or testing.
Where a claim is administered through an authorised reseller, the affected product must be returned through that reseller for assessment unless SAFETYCAR waives the return requirement.
SAFETYCAR may inspect, examine or test the affected product before determining whether a manufacturing defect exists and whether the claim is eligible for warranty support.
A claim may be rejected where:
- the claimed defect cannot reasonably be verified;
- the required evidence is not provided;
- the product is unavailable for inspection where inspection is reasonably required;
- the circumstances fall within an applicable warranty exclusion; or
- the claim otherwise does not satisfy the applicable Warranty Conditions.
The applicable warranty remedy will be determined according to the product-specific Warranty Conditions in force for the relevant purchase.
WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, supplying a replacement product under warranty does not restart, renew or extend the original warranty period.
Any replacement product remains subject to the remaining warranty period applicable to the original product.
Product-specific rules concerning replacement products and rated service life are stated in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
NON-TRANSFERABILITY
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions, the SAFETYCAR manufacturer's warranty applies solely to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
For an installed product, warranty coverage applies only to the vehicle, property, equipment or application in which the product was originally installed.
Unless SAFETYCAR expressly agrees otherwise, warranty coverage ends if:
- ownership of the product is transferred;
- ownership of the vehicle, property or application containing the product is transferred; or
- the product is removed and subsequently installed in another vehicle, property, equipment or application.
PURCHASES THROUGH AUTHORISED RESELLERS
Products purchased through an authorised reseller remain subject to SAFETYCAR's official Warranty Policy and the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
An authorised reseller may administer a warranty claim on behalf of a customer, but cannot independently extend, enlarge or vary SAFETYCAR's warranty obligations.
A valid SAFETYCAR manufacturer's warranty is not invalidated solely because the authorised reseller through which the product was purchased subsequently ceases to represent, distribute or sell SAFETYCAR products.
In such circumstances, SAFETYCAR may determine the appropriate channel through which any valid warranty claim will be administered.
Any separate commercial agreement between SAFETYCAR and an authorised reseller governs the contractual relationship between SAFETYCAR and that reseller and does not enlarge the warranty rights of an end consumer beyond the applicable published product warranty.
NO PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE BEYOND PUBLISHED SPECIFICATIONS
SAFETYCAR products are designed to reduce or mitigate specified risks when installed and used in accordance with their applicable specifications, instructions and Product Conditions of Use.
A SAFETYCAR product is not a guarantee against the event, hazard, failure or loss that it is intended to mitigate.
The occurrence of a fire, accident, equipment failure or other event does not by itself establish a manufacturing defect.
Similarly, an outcome in which a product does not prevent or fully mitigate damage, loss or another consequence does not by itself establish a manufacturing defect or SAFETYCAR liability.
Product performance remains subject to factors including:
- the nature, location, size and progression of the event;
- correct product selection and application;
- installation;
- operating and environmental conditions;
- use and maintenance;
- the product's published specifications and limitations; and
- the applicable Product Conditions of Use.
Nothing in this section limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION, DISCHARGE OR OPERATION
Certain SAFETYCAR products are designed to activate, discharge, rupture, release, deploy or otherwise operate automatically when specified conditions are reached.
The fact that a product activates, discharges or otherwise operates does not by itself establish a manufacturing defect or SAFETYCAR liability.
Activation or operation caused by external conditions is not a manufacturing defect unless SAFETYCAR determines, following assessment, that the operation resulted from a verified manufacturing defect attributable to SAFETYCAR.
Any product that has activated, discharged or otherwise completed a single-use operation must be dealt with in accordance with the applicable product instructions and Product Conditions of Use.
Product-specific exclusions relating to activation or discharge are stated in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SAFETYCAR's liability under this manufacturer's warranty is limited to the warranty remedy specified in the applicable product-specific Warranty Conditions.
Except to the extent that liability cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, SAFETYCAR will not be liable under this manufacturer's warranty for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss arising from the installation, storage, use, operation or failure of a product, including:
- loss of profit;
- loss of revenue;
- loss of business;
- loss of opportunity;
- loss of goodwill;
- loss of use;
- anticipated savings;
- substitute transport, property or equipment; or
- other consequential financial loss.
SAFETYCAR liability does not arise merely because a SAFETYCAR product was present when an incident, accident, failure or loss occurred.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy excludes or restricts any liability, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Use of SAFETYCAR products is also subject to the applicable Product Conditions of Use.
STATUTORY RIGHTS
The SAFETYCAR manufacturer's warranty is provided in addition to any rights or remedies available to a purchaser under applicable law.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or replace statutory consumer rights to the extent that those rights cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or replaced.
Where mandatory law provides a purchaser with rights or remedies that exceed or differ from this manufacturer's warranty, those mandatory rights remain unaffected.
PRODUCT CHANGES AND DISCONTINUATION
SAFETYCAR may improve, modify, replace or discontinue products and may change product specifications, configurations, SKUs, packaging or variants.
A product modification or discontinuation does not by itself terminate a valid warranty obligation relating to an eligible product sold before that change.
Where an identical replacement product is no longer available, SAFETYCAR may provide an appropriate successor or alternative product as the applicable warranty remedy, subject to the relevant product-specific Warranty Conditions and applicable law.
GOVERNING LAW
This Warranty Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore.
For end-consumer warranty matters, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes arising from or relating to this manufacturer's warranty will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
Nothing in this provision removes any mandatory right or remedy available under applicable law.
Where an authorised reseller has entered into a separate written commercial agreement with SAFETYCAR, that agreement governs the contractual relationship between SAFETYCAR and the reseller, including any separate dispute-resolution provisions applicable between those parties.
